If you are moving to Dallas, Texas from California, New York or Florida, Dallas suburbs offer many options full of luxurious homes priced above the $1 million mark. Most of the neighborhoods with homes in this price range provide great schools, plenty of amenities and custom homes. Here’s a look at some of the best luxury neighborhoods with prices up to $1.5 million in Dallas.

1. Southlake

Southlake’s country estate feel and proximity to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport have made it popular with transplants moving to North Texas. The addition of shopping and restaurants has been a big plus.

2. University Park

University Park’s proximity to Southern Methodist University and the short commute to downtown Dallas are major attractions. The city also benefits from its top-notch school district - Highland Park ISD. Highland Park High School students consistently score above the national and state average on the ACT and SAT.

3. Highland Park

Highland Park was one of Dallas’ first “suburbs” and dates to the turn of the 20th century. In 1913, Highland Park asked to become a part of the city of Dallas but was refused by its larger neighbor. The city also benefits from its top-notch school district - Highland Park ISD. Highland Park High School students consistently score above the national and state average on the ACT and SAT.

4.Westlake

Named the most affluent community in the country by Forbes magazine in 2011 and one of the most desirable and sought after places to live in America, Westlake is a town in Denton and Tarrant Counties in Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. Homebuyers are attracted to Westlake by the town’s location, between Dallas and Fort Worth and excellent schools.

5. West Plano

West Plano neighborhoods took off in the 1980s with the construction of the nearby Legacy business park and planned extension of the Dallas North Tollway. The old Willow Bend Polo Club was located along Park Boulevard.

6. Preston Hollow

Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood has some of the state’s most expensive homes. It started out as a separate town created by developers in farmland north of Dallas in the Roaring ’20s.

7. Lakewood

Lakewood residents benefit from the neighborhood’s proximity to White Rock Lake and the short commute to downtown Dallas’ offices. Homes and shops built in the area date to the 1920s.

8. Northwest Flower Mound

Flower Mound was planned for a “new town” development in the 1970s after the construction of D/FW Airport. The proximity to the airport and Grapevine Lake are still big draws.
