What About Surviving Spouses?
Surviving spouses of 100% disabled veterans (who passed away after 2009) may be eligible for a full property tax exemption, as long as:
The veteran passed away while eligible for the exemption
The spouse has not remarried
The spouse continues to use the home as their primary residence
This benefit is also portable, meaning the surviving spouse can transfer the exemption to a new primary residence within Texas.
