UNIVERSITY PARK REAL ESTATE

If moving to University Park, with about 23,500 residents, you can bank on quality living in the city that is home to Southern Methodist University and the George W. Bush Presidential Center.  University Park earned its name by being located next to Southern Methodist University, and many of the original homes were built for professors and staff. Homeowners once paid the university for water and sewer lines, but as more homes were built, the school could no longer support them. University Park and its 3.7 square miles became its own city in 1924 after Dallas refused to incorporate it.

University Park is routinely listed as one of most desirable cities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Every two years, D Magazine publishes a "Best Suburbs" issue. University Park finished #1 in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2014. Since the 1940s, the population and area of University Park have remained relatively stable at 23,000 residents and 3.8 square miles.

University Park is bordered on the north, east and west by Dallas and on the south by the town of Highland Park. University Park and Highland Park together comprise the Park Cities, an enclave of Dallas.

The city’s unique character, high property values, and low property tax rate - one of the lowest in DFW - have been steadily maintained.

University Park's businesses, churches, and schools are some of the City's greatest assets.

University Park Population

University Park had population of around 24,000 residents in 2019.
