Who Owns Southgate Homes? One Parent Company, Several DFW Builder Brands

Southgate Homes is a subsidiary of Green Brick Partners, a publicly traded homebuilder. Green Brick also owns other Dallas-Fort Worth builder brands, each with its own communities and sales team. A visit to one brand's model does not register you with another. Tell me which builders you plan to visit and I will handle registration before you walk in.

Who owns Southgate Homes?

Southgate Homes is a subsidiary of Green Brick Partners, Inc., which trades on the NYSE under GRBK. Builder press releases describe Southgate as a Dallas-Fort Worth homebuilder, and Green Brick's own brand list shows Southgate in Dallas-Fort Worth only.

Green Brick builds in Texas, Georgia and Florida. This page covers only the DFW side.

Which other DFW builders does Green Brick own?

Green Brick's brand list shows these Dallas-Fort Worth builders next to Southgate:

Trophy Signature Homes, detached homes, also active in Austin and Houston.
Normandy Homes, detached homes.
CB JENI Homes, townhomes.
Centre Living Homes, detached homes and townhomes. Green Brick reports a 90 percent interest, so ownership is not identical across brands.

Each brand sells its own plans in its own communities. Product type and community, not the parent, decide what you can buy where.

Why does the parent company matter when you buy?

It matters at three points. Registration is handled by builder and community, so a visit to a sister brand's model is not a visit to Southgate. Affiliated title and mortgage businesses sit at the parent level, so you meet them in more than one sales office. And the parent's brands can build near each other, so the town on the sign and the district on the deed deserve a check.
